From the Pastor's Desk November 2007

DEFINITION: satisfaction – noun, from satisfy – to fulfill the desires, needs, expectations, or demands of a person, to put an end to (a desire, want, need, etc.) by sufficient or ample provision: to provide fulfillment or gratification.

42 years ago a popular music group sang “I can’t get no satisfaction.”  Though not theologians, they expressed the same sentiment as Solomon when he said, “All is vanity and striving after wind” – nothing satisfies. (Ecc. 1:14)  Solomon said that he had looked for fulfillment in pleasure, and wealth and did not find it.  He also sought for it in work, politics, wisdom and religion and still got “no satisfaction.”  If Solomon, the wisest man in all the earth had a hard time finding fulfillment in life, how can we?  But we need look no further than the Scriptures.  Moses prayed, “O satisfy us in the morning with you lovingkindness, that we may be glad all our days.”  (Ps. 90:14)  Moses prayer was that God’s people be satisfied with His mercy and in that satisfaction their hearts would be glad.

As I read these words that is what I prayed for LLBC: that God satisfy us with His mercy and that our hearts would be made glad in Jesus.  That can only happen as we surrender our lives totally to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Are you singing “I can’t get no satisfaction” or is your life filled with Christ?  Paul wrote, “My God shall supply all your needs (even the need for fulfillment) according to His abundant riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19)

Satisfied… Bro. Keith
