From the Pastor´s Desk January 2011

I can hardly believe that it is 2011.  So many things happened in 2010, one of which was that we passed a milestone as a church. This past year LLBC completed 95 years of ministry.  God has so richly blessed us! One of the ways that the Lord has blessed us is with people with hearts of compassion. Because of that we have been blessed to be able to minister to so many families this year through our Benevolence Ministry, through our Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, and through our Angel Tree.  We ministered to 21 families in South Africa through our VBS offering for the Buckets of Hope. We ministered to families in Houston by sending our youth on a mission trip. We ministered to our teachers at Sandburg. And we have given $5225 toward our goal of $6000 for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. All this in addition to meeting the needs of our regular budget.  I praise the Lord for your generosity and faithfulness.

This past year we have begun to see fruit from our ministry to our community. We are seeing more children/youth in Sunday School and Kids for Christ at Sandburg Elementary as well as seeing some of them and their parents saved. We praise the Lord that God is rewarding our ministry.

Some new things for 2011: In January we will begin sponsoring the Cub Scouts of Pack 191. Also, the Young Adults, along with the Youth will assume responsibility for our Clothes Closet. You will be hearing more from them in the future.

Before I close, I want to ask you to think about two questions: “What are you doing right now that requires faith? How would you be living differently if you didn’t believe in God?” My prayer is that as you meditate on these questions that it was cause you to grow deeper in your walk with Christ.

Lastly, Josh and Hannah, J.D. and Kelly, Sandy and I want to thank you for your generous Christmas gift.  We love you and love serving you. Your pastor, Keith
