From the Pastor´s Desk - March 2010

Last Sunday night we sang some songs in worship that we had not sung in awhile. I am reminded of another: We are One in the Spirit.  The last line says: “and they’ll know we are Christians by our love...” Are we known by our love?  Jesus said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:34-35) As I read these words of Jesus several questions come to mind. Do people know that I am a disciple of Jesus by the way that I love other believers? Do I love unconditionally and sacrificially as Jesus did? Do I love my neighbors as I love myself? Do I love my enemies? Do people know that I am a Christian by my love? How would you answer those questions about yourself? We glorify Christ when we are faithful to His commandments and if we love like Jesus loved, we will expand His kingdom.  Isn’t that what we are to be about? How will others know the love of Christ unless we love them like Jesus loved us? As the ancient proverb says, “Actions speak louder than words.”  One way that we demonstrate our love is by praying for those in need, especially the lost.... Who are you praying for?  “And they’ll know we are Christians by our love.”  Bro. Keith
