LLBC Church Membership Covenant

Having been led, with assurance, by the Spirit of God, to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and upon the public profession of my repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, I do now most solemnly enter into covenant with LLBC, as one body in Christ.

  • I engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk with you in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort.
  • To promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain true biblical worship in it; observing its ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Table, its discipline, and its doctrines as revealed in the Word of God.
  • To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of this church, I also engage to biblically educate my children; to seek the salvation of my kindred and acquaintances; to be zealous in my efforts to advance the kingdom of my Savior,
  • To be just in my dealings, faithful in my engagements, endeavoring to live a God honoring life before all men.
  • I further engage to watch over you, my brethren, in brotherly love, to remember you in prayer; to aid you in sickness and in distress, to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech, to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation.
  • In recognizing the church’s authority to receive me into, and dismiss me from, its membership, also understand that I may leave the church if the Lord leads me.
  • Finally, in the event of sin on my part with regard to any biblical matter, I recognize the church’s biblical right to take disciplinary action toward me, which seeks my restoration.

I enter into this covenant realizing my brothers and sisters have already entered into this covenant one with another and that they are responsible to me in like manner. In joining this church, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:

...By acting in love toward other members
...By endeavoring to speak words of encouragement and abstaining from gossip
...By supporting our leadership
Romans 14:19 - So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.
1 Peter 1:22 - Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,
Ephesians 4:29 - Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Hebrews 13:17 - Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.

...By praying for its growth
...By inviting the unchurched to attend
...By warmly welcoming those who visit
1 Thessalonians 1:2 - We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers;
Luke 14:23 - Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled.
Romans 15:7 - Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.

...By discovering my gifts and talents
...By being equipped to serve
...By developing a servant's heart
...By serving in a ministry to the church
...By serving in the mission of the church to our community
1 Peter 4:10 - As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Ephesians 4:11-12 - And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
Philippians 2:3-4, 7 - Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. ...but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
Ephesians 4:4-5 - There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism.
Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,  20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

...By attending faithfully worship and becoming part of a community group
...By living a mature Christian life
...By giving regularly
Hebrews 10:25 - not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.
Philippians 1:27 - Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ... standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
1 Corinthians 16:2 - On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper.
Leviticus 27:30 - Thus all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's; it is holy to the Lord.
