From the Pastorīs Desk October 2009

It has been two years since we voted to go through the process of reFocusing LLBC.  What has been the result of these last two years?  Honestly we have to say that there have been both positives and negatives.

Positives: we have gained a clear vision of the mission that God has called us to as a church.  In fact, we believe that God has led us to 4 Strategic Objectives that will guide us in our ministry for the next 3-5 years:

·         Ministering God’s Love to Sandburg Elementary Community/Adopting a Neighborhood and Meet Real Needs

·         Making our Facilities and Property Community Friendly

·         Creating a High Impact Off-Campus Student Ministry

Hopefully we have learned some Key Lessons:

·         Strong leadership without the willingness of the people to be led by God’s inspiration is fruitless

·         We must deal with conflict to be a healthy church because resolving conflict draws one closer to Christ

·         We have a purpose individually and as a church

·         If we focus on 1 person as leader we fail, we must all be leaders for God

·         Activity does not equal unity

·         It’s all about Him, not us

And we have learned that to reach our community our Strategic Values must be being Spirit Driven, Servant Hearted, flexible and totally committed to Jesus – and loving it.

Our community groups have been a blessing as was our Back to School Bash at Sandburg, and the contacts that we made, and the children that have visited our Sunday School.

Negatives:  Some have decided not to make the journey with us.  Some have not involved themselves in the ministry of our church.

My encouragement is for us to keep our eyes upon the Lord and to follow the vision that He has given us.  We must surrender our lives totally to Christ daily, and we must be faithful to follow His leadership and in due time we will begin to see fruit.  And that will bring God glory and joy to His people.

Praying for fruit in our lives and in our church, Bro. Keith
