When we lived in Brazil the biggest church celebration was “Ano Novo” or the celebration on New Year’s Eve. When I asked people why it was so important, seemingly more important that Christmas and Easter, the answer was that it was because there was an opportunity for a new beginning in the New Year. They celebrated and worshiped the Lord as they brought the New Year in because of the new commitments that they made to the Lord. You can do the same thing. As you make your resolutions for 2008 I challenge you to resolve to love the Lord more than you have ever loved Him before, to love your neighbor more and to demonstrate that love by serving others that Christ may be glorified in your life. And pray for one another. And you will have cause to truly celebrate in the New Year.
I’m praying for you.
