From the Pastor´s Desk February 2011

What do you think of when someone mentions February? No, I wasn’t thinking of Ground Hog Day or whether we are going to have six more weeks of cold winter weather (I hope not!). Nor was I thinking of Presidents Day which is neither George Washington nor Abraham Lincoln’s birthday (but it is a holiday if you are a government worker). February is better known as the month of love because of Valentine’s Day.

When I think of love (after thinking of my wife and family) I think of the many commands in Scripture to love, “Love one another”, “Love your neighbor as yourself”, and the greatest commandment, “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength.”

As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ we should be known by our love. Are you known as one who loves the Lord more than anything? Can others see your love for God in your life? Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” Love, then, is more than just a feeling. It is an action. It is obedience for His glory!

Are you known for your love for those in the church? Our measure for how much we love is not each other, but Jesus. He told us to love one another as He loves us. We are to love those outside the church as well. They are the ones that truly need the love of Jesus as only you can share.

I praise the Lord that LLBC is known as a church that deeply cares for the needs of others. Keep on giving of yourself to meet those needs. God will richly bless you.
