From the Pastorīs Desk April 2008

How does a church become a healthy church that is making a difference?  When every member is using their gifts for Christ’s glory.

Sunday night we saw the movie Amazing Grace, the story of William Wilberforce.  When a student in college, I remember reading that William Wilberforce was the man responsible for the abolition of slave trading, but I did not know much about his life until seeing the movie.  Wilberforce was a Christian who believed that every aspect of his life should be used to glorify the Lord.  Because of his faith, he not only worked tirelessly to end the slave trade but was a founding member of the Church Missionary Society and a leading force in sending missionaries to India.  He was also a founder of the SPCA.  He wrote Real Christianity, an exposition on doctrine and a call for revival in light of the moral collapse of his country.  I point this out for this reason: Wilberforce was a layman.  He believed that the Lord could use anyone who would surrender their life to Christ.

Jesus said that we are to let our light shine so that men may see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven.  How is the Lord using you?  I am praying for you to surrender your life totally to Christ so that He can be glorified in you.
