From the Pastor's Desk - September 2014

From the Pastor’s Desk – September is going to begin with a great start. We will baptize (as of today’s count) eight children and six youth in our September 7 worship service.  I am praising the Lord for what He has been doing and what He is going to do here at LLBC, and thanking you for your prayers and faithfulness.  I can hardly wait for September to get here to see what else the Lord is going to do.

September 21 is National Back to Church Sunday. Who will you bring with you that day? I am looking forward to meeting your guest and having the opportunity to worship with them.  We have moved our monthly pot-luck fellowship meal to that Sunday as an incentive for your guests to stick around and get to know us, and for us to know them.

I want to share what the Lord has put on my heart for the next years of our ministry here at Lynn Lane Baptist Church: discipleship through our small groups. Jesus used small groups to train His disciples to reach the world. In our small groups we minister to one another, help to meet each other’s needs, pray for one another and encourage each other in our walks with Christ. Jesus ministered and preached to the multitudes, it is true, but the greatest part of his ministry He spent with 12 guys, teaching them so that they could teach others what Christ had taught them. And God used them to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Are you in a small group – a community group or a Sunday School class?  If not, I encourage you to join one today.  Don’t know which one? Ask me, and I will help you to find the one best suited for you. Our goal: every believer being a disciple maker.

Keep praying for me as I will for you.  I love you.  Pastor Keith
