From the Pastor's Desk - August 2013

From the Pastor’s Desk – August is here...or will be in just a few days, and that means that school will be starting as well as football practice and soccer season and all the fun stuff that goes along with FALL.... (Where did the summer go?) As I thought about how quickly time passes I remembered a couple of verses from the Word: Job said, “Remember that my life is but a breath...” (Job 7:7) and James wrote, “You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” (James 4:14) They were right. We don’t have much time to spend on this earth. In comparison to eternity our life is but a dot on God’s eternal timeline. I once heard the following from a poem by CT Studd: “Only one life will soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.” What is it in your life that will last at the judgment? Paul wrote, “For no man can lay a foundation other than...Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man's work will become is to be revealed with fire [that] will test the quality of each man's work. If any man's work...remains, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” (1 Cor. 3:11-15) Make your life count. Spend it for Christ. I have never heard of anyone who spent their life for Jesus complain that they wasted it.

Time passes quickly. Use your time to bring glory to the Lord. I’m praying for you. Bro. Keith
